The hammerhead shark from Schleich® Wild Life is distinguished by the shape of its head: it resembles a hammer.
 
Hammerhead sharks feed on sardines, herring and mackerel. Formerly, the legend said that they killed their prey with the head. Today, it is proven that the unusual shape of their heads serves to improve their perception. As with the hammerhead shark from Schleich® Wild Life, the eyes are to the left and right of the head and allow the predator to have a 360 degree view. Its muzzle allows it to perceive the electromagnetic signals of its prey.
