As in nature, the dromedary from Schleich® Wild Life has only one hump. It is also nicknamed the one-humped camel.

Camels live in the deserts of Africa and Asia. They feed mainly on leaves, dry grasses and thorny plants. The hump of these mammals is not used to store water but fat. In the desert, they can live for several weeks without finding food. The Schleich® Wild Life dromedary has eaten a lot lately, as can be seen by its well-filled and well-trained hump.

Fun facts:

During a sandstorm, camels close their nostrils to prevent sand from entering them.
