White-tailed deer are very fearful animals. When they are afraid, they wag their tails. If a predator is nearby, they raise their tails. They then reveal their white fur, which is why they are called white-tailed deer. The main enemies of white-tailed deer are wolves, coyotes, pumas, bears, alligators and jaguars.
Fun fact: An adult white-tailed deer's antlers grow about 60 mm (2.4 inches) each day.
