The lynx is most famous for its ears, which are topped with a tuft of black hair that looks like a brush. These hairs do not protect the ears from the cold, but they help the lynx hear better. Lynx living in colder areas have larger paws with thicker pads. These act like snowshoes and prevent the animal from sinking into the snow.
Fun fact: The lynx has six times the vision of a human, especially at night.
