White-tailed deer see and hear very well, but they rely mainly on their sense of smell and speed. They are very agile and can run up to 30 mph. Their gray-brown winter coat does not simply serve as camouflage against predators. The hairs are hollow and retain body heat rather well.
Fun fact: White-tailed deer can jump 10 feet high and 30 feet long.
