Sheep under one year old are called lambs. Their wool already begins to grow a few days after birth. They quickly find their place in the herd and are more intelligent than you might think: sheep are able to recognize their peers and also humans.
Fun fact: The lambs are suckled for three months. They then feed on all kinds of grass.
