While accompanying her father as he searched for rocks and shells on the beach, Mary Anning became passionate about fossil hunting! At the age of 12, she found the skeleton of a gigantic marine reptile called an ichthyosaur. It is one of the most important prehistoric discoveries of all time. Mary's research sparked a worldwide interest in paleontology.
